What We Do
Community Action & Organizing.
Real change is rooted in communities. Through Women and Girls' Action Networks (WAGAN), Community Action Networks (CANs) and Village Action Networks (VANs), we organise women, girls and allies to learn, lead and demand the care they want - close to home.
WAGAN
Women and Girls' Action Networks - the anchor structure for organising and advocacy across counties.
CANs
Community Action Networks - local platforms of CBOs, women's groups and youth groups working together.
VANs
Village Action Networks - village-level groups that root accountability and advocacy in everyday community life.
How a community action cycle works
- Surface lived experiences through listening sessions and surveys.
- Prioritise demands together as a community - not for the community.
- Engage local leaders, health facilities and county officials with that evidence.
- Track follow-through publicly through community scorecards.
Sustainability
Sustained by local ownership.
WAGAN, CANs and VANs are intentionally locally-owned - equipped with self-advocacy and self-organising tools so the work continues with or without us in the room.
